Whew, I’ve had a BUNCH of giveaways recently, so I’m rolling them all into one big post. For our Wet & Wild bloghop, the grand prizes winners were…
The winner of the $100 gift card to Victoria’s Secret is:
From Paloma Beck’s stop, Wendy Hoffman who said, “Anything as long as its Hot!!”
And the winner of the digital gift basket is:
From Laura Kaye’s stop, Sophie Rose who said, “Dangerous Submission by Lori Toland because I’m still dipping my pinky toe into the BDSM world.”
The winner of my stop’s $15 gift card to Amazon was Denice!
I also had a guest post on Novel Reflections of my Top Five Favorite Traits in a Romance Hero. The winner of that $10 Amazon gift card was Adnana. (But still go read the post, it’s fun!)
I gave away a copy of Wanderlust at Amber’s Reading Room that went to Dawn.
AND I had a big release blast for Beneath the Beauty with Goddess Fish tours. The winner of that $25 gift card was bn100. The host who wont the random $25 gift card was Melissa from the Snarkology.
That’s all, folks! It’s been a super busy month here at Casa Warren and will probably remain so until the Beauty serial is finished. Then I’m looking forward to a little R&R before Don’t Let Go comes out toward the later part of the year.
Many thanks to the lovely hosts of my release day blast and giveaway for Beneath the Beauty. There are brand new excerpts from the book as well as reviews on some of the sites. Plus each comment enters you to win a $25 gift card to Amazon or Barnes & Noble!
“…an intriguing and sexy beastly hero, a vulnerable young student who coaxes him out of his shell, and a romantic and erotic storyline that is sure to satisfy readers. Another winner from Warren.” – Penelope’s Romance Reviews
You can pick up Beneath the Beauty for only 99 cents from Amazon or Barnes & Noble. And if you haven’t started the series yet, the first installment, Beauty Touched the Beast, is also available for free from those places!
This is the Wet & Wild bloghop, where we have super fun grand prizes for your entering pleasure, including a $100 gift card to Victoria’s Secret AND a digital gift basket featuring my book, Wanderlust, as well as Fever by Maya Banks, Knight & Stay by Kitty French, Dirty Distractions by Cari Quinn, and The Girl in 6E by Alessandra Torre. PLUS I have a $15 gift card that you can win right here.
I’m thrilled to share with you my brand new release, Beneath the Beauty. This sexy serial kicks off in Beauty Touched the Beast with a scarred hero who doesn’t think he’s good enough for the sexy college student who cleans his house.
The best part is that Beauty Touched the Beast is FREE and the sequel novella, Beneath the Beauty, is only 99 cents. That’s damn cheap for a sexy, angsty story that reviewers are calling “heartbreaking” and “panty scorching.” Free and 99 cents is as accessible as I can make this!!
“…an intriguing and sexy beastly hero, a vulnerable young student who coaxes him out of his shell, and a romantic and erotic storyline that is sure to satisfy readers. Another winner from Warren.” – Penelope’s Romance Reviews
Now let’s talk about prizes!!! These are the grand prizes…
AND you can win a $15 gift card from me by commenting below. The Beauty serial has a) a tortured hero, and b) a professor hero, and c) an older-man-younger-man trope. What I’d love to know is, which of these themes is your personal favorite and if you can think of a book you loved with that trope, even better!~
I’m going to keep this post short and sweet. Beneath the Beauty, the sequel that began in the hearts of my readers and worked its way into my own heart, is now available. If you have not read Beauty Touched the Beast or just want to do a refresher read, you can still get it for free from Amazon or B&N.
And now Beneath the Beauty is also available for the low price of 99 cents on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. It’s sexy, emotional, and I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did writing it.
In late 2011, I put out a sexy story, Beauty Touched the Beast. It was short, around 6K words, but it was also free, intended as an introduction to my writing.
Reader response to Beauty was amazing. People really connected to Erin and Blake, but they wanted more of that story, not just my other books. I got the most amount of fanmail for that small story as for any of my other, longer works. Even now it keeps coming, which is so humbling for me.
Despite the requests, I wasn’t ready to write the sequel. It would have felt forced and that would’ve been a disservice to the characters… and to my readers. But it was always there, in the back of mind, formulating.
As I considered it, I realized the story (or stories) I had in mind didn’t fit into a regular book structure but were more episodic. And then the serial format came along and I thought hmm, yes. This could work.
So I began to write…
On May 20th, the second installment of the Beauty series, Beneath the Beauty, will be released. The last two will come out in mid-June and early July.
The first installment, the one that’s already out, Beauty Touched the Beast, will remain the same as it’s always been–6K words, and as long as Amazon price matches, it’ll be free. The upcoming three installments will be much longer, more like a short novella.
As for the rest, I researched serials coming out both traditionally and self pubbed and found that this length most often sells at $1.99 or $2.99. I found one at $3.99 per installment. I don’t think $1.99 is a bad price, because then the total is still under six bucks. Plus, a reader can choose to abandon ship at any point, meaning I’m assuming more of the risk (which is why serials tend to be priced higher).
At least over the summer, I’ve decided to price each installments at 99 cents. I reserve the right to raise them after that, but if you follow along as they are released, you’ll get the 99 cent price. In terms of length, the sum of the four parts is regular novel length. You’d be getting the whole thing for $2.98 which is actually cheaper than my standard pricing. For example, Wanderlust is a full length novel and it’s $3.99.
I feel good about this because I’m trying something new and I want my readers to be able to try it with me without breaking the bank. I’m actually writing the last installment now but so far they’ve been super sexy and emotional, so I hope you guys love them as much as I do!
Oh, and if you haven’t read the story that started it all yet, read Beauty Touched the Beast for free now!
My martial arts fighter romance Below the Belt is on sale for only 99 cents from May 1 to May 3rd, so if you haven’t read it yet, grab a copy now. The important thing about this book is that it has hot sex, but here’s the blurb to round it out:
“…what an absolutely dynamite heroine” – Rage, Sex & Teddy Bears
Martial arts champion Abe Montgomery is dead-set on winning gold at Nationals. Paris Rivera has sworn off men and martial arts. When these two meet, the chemistry is explosive.
Abe may dominate on the mats, but he’s fallen hard for Paris. The fight of his life looms ahead, not only for his dreams but for the sexy woman he soon can’t live without.
“This book is sweet and spicy! Romance written in a realistic way. No fairy tale endings. No promises that can’t be kept. Just straight up emotion and honesty.” – Have You Heard Book Reviews
The temporary price reduction is actually part of a group sale of indie authors in a variety of romance-related genres. Here are a few that I’m buying myself:
And you can browse the sale website for more books temporarily on sale for 99 cents here! Happy reading, everyone 🙂
I have a cover reveal for the Beauty serial up today at Haydee’s Reviews! These covers are seriously steamy… my hottest covers yet, that’s for sure.
This is the cover for Beneath the Beauty that’s been on my site already, but the later ones get even sexier, I think.
Beneath the Beauty comes out in May… yes, let’s than a month away! And remember, Beauty Touched the Beast, the story that started it all is already out now and available free from most vendors:
Thank you to everyone who read/tweeted/reviewed Wanderlust and taking it into top #20 Paid Erotica Bestseller list at Amazon. Wanderlust is my first full length novel and I’m so beyond thrilled at the reception. I was worried Hunter was too dark, but you guys have looked into his blackened soul and found him worthy.
Yay, Wanderlust is officially released! I was later with this than I’d hoped to be, so I am very grateful to readers who stuck around while I got my butt in gear.
So, let’s see. Compared to my “Dark Erotica” series, this is more of a character study and has less of a thriller aspect. I also think it’s a bit sexier… there’s more room to do that without suspense antics, I think. So hopefully that can help you decide whether this is right for you. It’s still very dark though.
Dark erotica is a tricky beast in terms of marketing, because it has inflammatory subject matter and because it’s still such a small niche (though a few dedicated bloggers are AMAZING).
As of right now, I’ve decided against a blog tour for this book because I figured Wanderlust is too “out there” for mainstream blogs even with warnings. And it’s really *not* a romance, even though there is crossover readership. At this point, I want to see if I can reach critical mass of my previous releases through word of mouth. We’ll see how that works out.
On that note, here’s what reviewers have had to say about it so far:
”It was emotionally harrowing yet had bursts of humour, so extremely dark and disturbing yet sensual.” – TotallyBooked Blog
“I loved the story; I loved that it made me feel, that it turned me on, turned me off, made me pause and think, twisted my stomach into knots, and, at times, believe it or not gave me some warm fuzzies that were well balanced by the realism of the protagonists’ struggles and my empathy for them.” – Haydee’s Reviews
“I love how Ms. Warren is able to make the angst of these two people so real…downright heartbreaking.” – Salacious Reads
“Reading this book, I had similar feelings to how I felt when I read Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas. I loved this dysfunctional couple and couldn’t get enough of them.” – Reader’s Confession
“I would say this was dark and disturbing…..and it kind of was but for me, when it counts, it’s a seriously sweet emotional book.” – Dark Reading Room
I’m so thrilled at the early reception! I know how fucked up Hunter is, so to see people say they wanted to hate him but couldn’t is pretty much… heartwarming 😀 He’s definitely my scariest guy yet (although that will change with the release of Don’t Let Go).
You can read Wanderlust from the following places:
Edit: Someone raised an objection to my content warning. I see how I was overstepping my bounds (previously read “Please do not read if you’re uncomfortable with the subject matter”). I’m sorry to those I offended. I’m changing that line to “Not intended for those uncomfortable with the subject matter or those under eighteen years of age.” Hopefully that works better, since it’s more about me and not what others should do. It will probably take a few days to get it done everywhere.
Thank you all for joining me in the first excerpt post for Write Club! I want to share the opening lines for my next release, Wanderlust.
I had grown up fast, fumbling with mac and cheese before I was tall enough to see over the pot, explaining away my excess absences to disinterested teachers. But there was so much I didn’t know, so much I hadn’t seen. That absence of knowledge had become an almost tangible thing, filling me up, suffocating me until I needed to walk away just to breathe.
Ironically, my innocence was my mom’s explanation for keeping me home. The world was too scary, and I wouldn’t even know how to protect myself. To hear her tell it, the streets were filled with ravening men who would rape me as soon as look at me.
Hmm… I wonder what’s going to happen next? God, I do love a good foreshadow. And be sure to stop by the other posters here:
Want to join in the next Write Club? You can sign up here. Thank you!
You’re receiving this email because you signed up for the Unofficial Six Sentence Sunday. I apologize for not contacting you sooner, but I’ve been thinking about this a lot. My concern was that the old format for Six Sentence Sunday was not a sustainable pace. Many participating authors jumped in and out each week, and from a moderation standpoint, the old SSS had six moderators and still said it was overwhelming. I didn’t want to start something that would be doomed to fail or blindly choose a format because it’s what was done before. I also talked with several authors to figure out what might work better.
I have a proposal that I hope you’ll try out with me, which I’ve nicknamed Write Club. I’d like to share excerpts once a month instead of weekly. You all may still share them on your blog every week, of course, and even swap comments with authors you already know. But we’ll all connect via the link list once a month, and that will allow new folks to join in. So that would be on the first Sunday of each month (which is also today). Then on the third Sunday of each month, we’d have a topic post, sharing our inspiration for our writing, our settings, etc.
That definitely changes the dynamic, I realize, and some people may drop off because of that. But the benefits might be richer. We would still be showcasing our books, maybe make some sales. We would be building community among writers, all while generating content for our blogs. It may not work out, of course, but it might, and if it seems like something you might be interested in, I hope you’ll give it a try. I have the signup for next month’s 6-sentence excerpt post below.
If you would prefer to stay strictly with the old format, you can check out the following alternatives (hat tip to Sarah Ballance):

http://www.wewriwa.com/2013/01/welcome-to-weekend-writing-warriors-r.html
But I do hope you’ll stick around and see how this new format pans out. I would love to find a sustainable solution that provides all the great benefits, the community that we don’t want to give up. Thank you!
Welcome to the Chocolate, Roses and Handcuffs giveaway hop! When I saw that sexy title, I knew I had to participate. I write dark erotica, which I like to think of as dark chocolate–bitter and sweet, sharp and addictive as hell. I want to share with you my latest release, Hear Me, and then tell you about my fun giveaway.
She doesn’t remember her past, only her training. She can’t talk, not that a good slave should speak out of turn. None of that matters when she wakes up in the warm, rustic room. Her new master is distant but kind. There’s only one problem: he doesn’t want her.
Longing for the shackles of safety, she pulls from the last dregs of her will to prove her worth as a slave. It seems to be working. He responds first to her body and next to her submission. The secrets of his past haunt the cabin, fraying the tightening bond between Master and slave, but it is her own memories that may finally unravel it.
Now let’s talk giveaways! One random commenter will receive both Hear Me and Trust in Me in print and signed by the author. You’ll also recieve a Godiva truffles box, a tasty treat to go with your books 🙂
Just comment below telling me what your favorite kind of chocolate is, then use the Rafflecopter widget right here to enter to win! I will ship this internationally to most places, but I reserve the right to substitute ebooks or digital gift cards for certain locations.
Yay! So thrilled to be ushering in the new year with all of the lovely authors and bloggers in the Naughty New Years bloghop. And with YOU lovely readers and hoppers who will get to win lots of fun prizes.
In 2013, I have two releases already planned, including the next installments of my Dark Erotica series and the Beauty serial. However, I also have a super secret project that I’ve been working on. I’m only announcing it now. I don’t have an official blurb for it yet, but I can tell you that there is a trucker and he is DIRTY in the best possible ways. Which are really the worst possible ways, because this is a dark erotica story. Not part of the series or anything, but lots of lovely dubious consent because that is what I love to write.
I also have the cover reveal for it, and I’m really excited to share:
Now, every comment along the bloghop will enter you to win a $100 gift card to EdenFantasys or a digital gift basket of recently released erotic books. But FIVE randomly drawn commenters on this blog post will win an advanced readers copy of Wanderlust. The release of this book is tentatively scheduled for February and so you’ll get the ARC a couple weeks earlier than that, so you can be the very first readers.
All you have to do is leave a comment below telling me what location your lust after? When you get the wanderlust bug, where do you want to go?

From stimulating conversations—to ripped panties as a makeshift gag. And Jasper’s new fascination with anything leather pulling Jill further down onto her knees. The Rules of the Game: Jill draws on paper what she wants from her husband’s lips, tongue, teeth, and fingers No stick figures If Jasper can’t guess her needs, he takes over any way he sees fit Only a minute to shift their roles—but there’s always time for the darkest pleasure—and a line they never thought they would cross.
Thanks, Elise! Now go forth and get spanked…. on Amazon, Nook, or ARe.

I’m starting a new regular series on my blog called Speechless, featuring beautiful sexual imagery without written accompaniment. Please enjoy the sensual treat and feel free to share it on twitter, pinterest, or wherever, since I do have the rights to any images used.
Yesterday, twitter was abuzz because a prominent author of erotica made some harsh comments about reviewers of her books. There wasn’t much of a debate, since pretty much everyone, including her, agreed it was the wrong thing to do. It’s unprofessional, twitter said.
I woke up this morning to a blog post about author professionalism that talked about a lot more than that comment (in fact, I don’t recall if that was mentioned at all really). One of the things it said was that calling yourself a writer of smut was unprofessional. The line stuck with me because I contribute to a group blog called Smut Writers. Unsurprisingly, I disagree with her statement. The fact that my work is considered offensive and profane by many people is simply a fact. It helps define me as an author whether I acknowledge it or not, and I choose to embrace that fact.
Both of these things, the reviewer name-calling and the terminology “smut”, are called unprofessional. But the first one was cruel, and the second one not, so to me they are very different.
This thing I do here, writing and publishing, is more than a hobby to me. It matters to me deeply. It also pays my bills. I think it’s important to behave professionally, but context matters. As a politician, it would be unprofessional to make an anal sex pun to my constituents. For an erotica author, it’s par for the course. Should it be? I don’t know for sure, but if my readers are happy and I’m happy, I suppose that’s all I can do. Actually, there’s one more thing I can do, and that is to be kind. It’s not something I’ll do as part of being an author or branding or marketing. There’s inherent value in kindness. I think that is a far more potent and worthwhile promise than professionalism. I’ll do both though we may not always agree on whether my actions are professional. But if you see me being mean, I hope you’ll tell me so.
I’m starting a new segment on my blog called Dark Reading Wednesday where I’ll share a book that’s dark and sexy or just plain twisted. I’m hoping this will be a way for you to find out about great new dark books. Or if you’ve read them, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
To kick it off, I have one of my favorite recent mindfucks…
Shaw is in Fiji to sell a stolen painting to the crime boss, Vornis. It will be the deal of a lifetime, if Shaw can pull it off. But then Vornis parades his latest toy around in front of him—a captured DEA agent whose time is running out. It’s none of Shaw’s business, and it doesn’t matter that under any other circumstances Lee would be exactly Shaw’s type: he’s young, he’s hot, and he might even have a personality if they hadn’t beaten it out of him. Too bad there’s no way Lee is getting off the island. Too bad there’s nothing Shaw can do for him. And too bad there are some lines that even Shaw won’t cross.
Keeping his hands off Lee proves harder than he thinks, but Shaw’s not stupid enough to fall for the tortured captive of a dangerous crime boss, is he? If he did, it wouldn’t be just his job he would be risking—it would be his life.
Publisher’s Warning: Readers with a history of rape or sexual abuse may find elements of this story disturbing.

Back to Escape, where the hero has confessed his guilt over the heroine’s abduction. Let’s see what she has to say about that.
Her eyes narrowed, as if maybe she heard thoughts left unspoken. “It wasn’t his fault. Or yours. You were just doing your job. No.” She put a hand to her forehead, the gesture at once emphasizing her fragility and underscoring her strength.
